Our Story
Our journey in Ericeira began long before Ericeira Hills was founded. After spending many family holidays here, we fell in love with the ocean, the surf, and the relaxed atmosphere of this charming Portuguese village.
In 2013, we bought our very first villa – A Casinha. It was a traditional Portuguese house that we fully renovated into a modern home, while keeping its original charm. Whenever we weren’t using it ourselves, we began renting it out to guests. The positive feedback and the joy of sharing our home inspired us to continue.
Over the next few years, we purchased the land behind Casinha and built three more villas: The Villa, Casa Elise (named after our eldest daughter), and Casa Therese (named after our youngest daughter). Each villa was carefully designed with the same philosophy – combining modern comfort, stylish design, and the beauty of Ericeira’s natural surroundings.
Who We Are
Behind the scenes, it’s Aksel who handles the day-to-day operations, answering guest inquiries and making sure everything runs smoothly. He’s known for replying quickly and always doing whatever it takes to give guests the best experience possible. Outside of running Ericeira Hills, Aksel is passionate about surfing, playing poker, and spending time in Portugal – preferably far away from winter and cold weather.
Our entire family shares a love for surfing and the ocean, which is why Ericeira feels like home. Each villa is a reflection of that passion – created not just as houses, but as places where families, friends, and travelers can feel inspired, relaxed, and connected.
Growing With Care
As our collection of villas grew, we realized we needed someone local to take care of our guests. That’s when we met Sofia. She quickly became the heart of Ericeira Hills. Today, she works full time as our house manager and is beloved by everyone who meets her. From morning to night, Sofia goes above and beyond to make sure every guest has a perfect stay – whether it’s arranging details, giving local tips, or simply offering a warm smile.
A few years later, we added our fifth property – The Ocean – a stunning villa right by the sea with a private tennis court. This home completed our dream of creating a unique portfolio of holiday villas in Ericeira.
